Hey guys,

Soon, the summer holidays will be over and I'll have to go back to school.

For this occasion I decided to share some tips on how to prepare for the new school year.

1. Declutter your room and workspace

I am the kind of person that needs an organized and tidy workspace so she can concentrate and start working. When your room is untidy the possibility of you getting distracted is much greater than when it is tidied up.

You should use the spare time you have now and go ahead and declutter your room and workspace. Get rid of everything you don't need or stuff from the previous year and make space for new school supplies.

I promise that you will super refreshed and motivated once you are done.

2. Prepare your study environment

Make sure that the lighting in in your room is suitable for studying at day and nighttime. Decorating my desk helps me with motivating myself for the upcoming school year but make sure that you don't have too much stuff on your desk, otherwise it will have the opposite effect and act as a distraction.

3. Set realistic goals

I believe that setting goals helps you prioritize things and spend your time more intentionally.

When setting goals I recommend writing them down on a piece of paper and putting it somewhere where you will see it often. (Like your closet or mirror.) But it is very important that the goals are realistic. You, for example, should not make it a goal to get an A in English when you almost failed the subject the previous year

4. Fix your sleep schedule

Like most teenagers, I also like to stay up until morning, scrolling social media or watching movies. But it is important to fix your sleep schedule before school starts. Otherwise you won't get enough rest. I always start with fixing my sleep schedule around two weeks before school starts.

You should start going to sleep about eight hours before you want to wake up in the morning.

What really helps me is setting multiple alarms around the time that I need to go to bed otherwise time will just fly by and I will forget that I need to go to bed.

5. Build routines

I always try to create a productive morning and night routine. I recommend writing them down so you won't forget anything. Once you have everything planned out, you should start practicing them about two weeks before school starts so you are already used to them once the new term starts.

6. Make playlists

I love listening to music.

Whether it is while cleaning my room, going to school, working out or studying.

So I always make sure to create new playlists and update my old ones.

Here are a few playlist I recommend to create:

  • Study playlists: I always listen to music while studying. But it is important that you don't listen to music with lyrics otherwise you will get distracted easily.

  • Happy playlists:I can guarantee you that there will be times in the upcoming semesters where you wake up in the morning and just don't feel like going to school or doing anything productive. Especially when it starts getting dark earlier. When I have a day like that I listen to one of my playlists with happy songs. Very often this improves my mood

  • Chill playlists: Those playlists help me relax and destress after a long day.

7. Create an organization system

Being organized throughout the school year is essential because the more organized you are, the less stressed you are going to be. And the less stress you are, the more time you have to focus on school and studying.

You need to find a way to organize your notes and all your appointments.

There are many ways for you to organize your notes. Like binders, notebooks and much more.

I personally like to use my iPad to take notes, print them out if the teacher wants me to hand them in and then put those in a binder.

I use the app notion for all my appointments.
